Baby Huey
I haven't talked about any of our animals lately, so I thought I'd give the background on Baby Huey aka Casey. His real name is Casey, but he so fits the mold of baby Huey, that in writing, I refer to him as that. Why is that you ask? Glad you want to know.
On a nice warm day in July, The Dharma and I were walking Puppyman on the green, where we heard the distress cry of a kitten. He was loud and demanding, should have run the other way, but we didn't. Searched him out, spotted him across the street, and I think called to him. Maybe? Not sure now, but I do know he came a running. Not to us, but straight to the dog. Wyatt sniffed him, and I picked the little white ball of fluff up and off we went. How could we not fall instantly in love with a white kitten, with touches of peach on his ears and tail, and the bluest eyes I have ever seen.
Our first visit to the vet and they agreed that he was probably between three and four months old. Teeth and size were the major deciding points. Looking back on that, I think he was probably younger. His paws were huge, but the rest of him fit the size of a three or four month old.
Jump to two months later and the boy has gained a few pounds. Well he is pretty big boned and eating like a small pony, so I just put it down to a tremendous growth spurt. At six months, he weighed in at ten lbs. That's T.E.N. pounds at a half a year. I have known cats that never grow beyond four pounds.
Somewhere in the last two months, Casey and Wyatt (the 70lb dog) have started their own version of wwSmack down. Casey comes flying out of no where, grabs Wyatt around the neck and pins him. Wyatt is in pure heaven. He's not a cuddly dog, but Casey can lay all over him, and Wyatt isn't moved, to well...move. Amazing! I love to watch them wrestle. I keep threatening to put it up on Ytube. Most people will be in awe at the flying white ball of fur that attacks the leaping dog, I'm sure of it! Well maybe just animal lovers, but that's a lot of people.
We are now at age nine months, and I just can't bring myself to weigh him. I joke to the Dharma that I'm going to need a weightlifters belt to hoist this kitten up when he's fully grown, but I really think that's going to be the case. The Dharma keeps bugging me to strengthen my core, I'm seriously considering it just to keep up with Baby Huey.
{The top picture is Casey at six months. Picture to the left of this is him at 9 months, crushing my legs btw.}
